Route

What's the plan?

Day 1: Llogara National Park

Our professional tour guide will pick you up at 9:00 am at your hotel in Tirana or Tirana Airport. Right after the group gets together we start our journey toward Southern Albania. On our way to Llogara National Park we will visit the ancient ruins of Apollonia, its Odeon Theatre, the Church of Saint Mary, the ancient statues of Illyrian times and the mosaic. Our tour continues towards Vlora where the Adriatic and Ionian Seas meet. Free afternoon at Llogara National Park. Overnight in Llogara.

Day 2: Mount Çika

We start our hiking adventure early in the morning. Our objective is summiting the top of Mount Çika, the highest peak of South-western Albania. The hike during this day would be an intense one, requiring a good physical condition and proper hiking outfit, however, the view from the top is a breath-taking corner of the world. Our day would be characterised by imposing mountain peaks blanketed in deep green forests, crystal clear seas fringed by long white beaches inviting you to dive in. After a panoramic picnic lunch we had back to Llogara National Park. Overnight in Llogara.

Day 3: Grama Bay

We will wake up, early in the morning, with an innate sense of wonder and desire to explore more. Our destination will be Grama Bay, considered by many a hidden gem of Albania. To reach this hidden beach (only reachable by approximately 8 hours hiking or by boat) we will walk through an ancient path, used by emperor Cesar during the Roman times. The “Cesar Path” passes through top of Karaburun Peninsula reaching from 800m up to 1240m altitudes, where we start our descending trekking to Grama Bay. This is where things get interesting; we will set up a tent camp (equipment’s will be brought to bay by horse or boat if you choose), light up a fire by the beach, wait for the sunset, count the stars and taste wild seafood grilled on the fire. Overnight in Grama Bay.

Day 4: Drymades

There is no better feeling than waking up from the sound of calm waves hitting the shore. After breakfast with a seaside view, we enjoy a final swim in the crystal clear waters of Grama Bay. We pack up our tents and get ready to explore the rest of Karaburun Peninsula by hiking along the southwest coastline of Karaburun Peninsula. While hiking we will discover empty beaches, isolated old churches and hidden caves used by pirates back in the days. (Optional; travellers whom prefer to explore the coastline by boat instead of hiking, can do it with a 30 Euros/Person). Our vehicle will be waiting for us at Palasa beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of Southern Albania. Overnight in Palasa.

Day 5: Tirana

After waking up with an amasing view by the seaside, we start exploring some of the most beautiful hidden rocky beaches between the white roads and Drymades. Our next destination is the balcony of the Albanian Riviera where we enjoy a traditional lunch with a panoramic view. We arrive in Tirana in late afternoon.

FAQ

FAQ

Best season
The best season to visit Albania is during Spring, April to June, and Autumn, September to December. During these seasons temperatures range between 10 °C and 25°C, which allows you to enjoy the mountain trails without suffering the summer heat or the colder winters. Also, during Spring and Autumn, you avoid the peak season for tourists, which is from July to August.

Training
The fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the trek. No doubt about that. If you are in good shape, this trek shouldn't be a problem for you. Remember that during these treks in Albania you will be walking many hours in the mountains for several days. If you are worried that it might be too much, you can always train in advance, walking a few hours a day and climbing some stairs. Your guide will be with you at all times and help you if needed, to complete your adventure securely and safely.

Tipping
Tipping is not a must in Albania or the Balkans. However, if you got a good service from your guide and you want to thank him, it will always be much appreciated. How much to tip your guide is up to you. Our recommendation is to tip the tour guide/driver 5 – 6 Euros per day/person as it is an international practice to tip good service.
