How Much Does the Everest Base Camp Trek Cost?
The trek to Everest Base Camp can be done in multiple ways fitting all sorts of budgets. The majority of trekkers choose to do the full trek from Lukla to EBC and back, all on foot. This is by far the cheapest way of doing it. Those who have less time may opt to hike all the way up and fly back to Kathmandu by helicopter. This is a fast and a more expensive option. And for the ones who like to pamper themselves, there’s the exclusive package where someone flies in and out by heli and stays in the best accommodation available on the trek. An important note to make is that all these Everest Base Camp tours include the salary, food, accommodation and insurance for the guides and porters. This sounds logical but not every company makes these arrangements for their staff on the ground.
Prices of flights to Kathmandu vary, but Tribhuvan International Airport is well-served by some of the Gulf state airlines, such as Emirates Airlines and Qatar Airways. You can find a flight from Europe for less than 800 EUR whereas you may find a deal for around 1000 EUR from the east coast of the USA. Nepal is a very affordable country. A good quality accommodation can be found for less than 50 EUR and eating in local restaurants is generally cheap and very tasty.
Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tours
Yes, we are a trekking company and wouldn’t do just an Everest Base Camp helicopter package. You have to earn it! Our 9-day Everest Base Camp trek with helicopter return effectively ends in Gorak Shep, from where you return by heli back to Kathmandu. It’s a great way to hike the entire route but skip the return on foot. Weather permitting the helicopter flight shows you some of the most iconic mountain sceneries in the world. We recently added a luxury version of the EBC trek. It includes a helicopter return between Kathmandu and the trailhead and trail end with premium accommodation where available along the route.
