We work with one of the best trekking companies in Nepal. You’ll be looked after upon arrival in Kathmandu until the moment you finish your trip. Our local team knows the route as the back of their hand and they ensure you’ll stay at the best lodges possible during your Gokyo Valley tour. Our head of operations in Kathmandu, Chhatra, explains why you should choose the Gokyo Ri trek if you are visiting the Everest region. “Everest Base Camp is great, but in recent years it has been very busy on the trail and in the tea houses”, he says. “The Gokyo Valley is a route where you can experience an incredible mountain landscape, truly traditional villages and not having to share it with loads of other trekkers”. The route is partly shared with the Everest Base Camp trek, but once you’re headed up the Gokyo Valley things are different. The accommodation is more simple, villages are authentic and seem to have been frozen in time. The Gokyo trek gives you a glimpse of what trekking on the Everest Base Camp was like 20 years ago. How Much Does the Gokyo Ri Trek Cost?

The Gokyo Valley treks can be done in various ways with different pricing. Our shortest trip to Gokyo Ri is 10 days and takes you up to Gokyo Ri, returning the same way you came. Add two days and you can do a loop that includes Gokyo Ri and the Renjo La pass. Let’s have a look at what these options entail and what the cost of these options are.

Prices of flights to Kathmandu vary, but Tribhuvan International Airport is well-served by some of the Gulf state airlines, such as Emirates Airlines and Qatar Airways. You can find a flight from Europe for less than 800 EUR whereas you may find a deal for around 1000 EUR from the east coast of the USA. Nepal is a very affordable country. A good quality accommodation can be found for less than 50 EUR and eating in local restaurants is generally cheap and very tasty.

Gokyo Valley Trek Accommodation

Trekking in Nepal has become very popular in recent years, and more and more tea houses have popped up along Nepal’s trekking routes. The more popular your route, the better the quality of your tea house is. Hence, the tea houses and lodges on the Gokyo Valley Trek are good value for money. You can expect flush toilets, hot showers and in some cases even wireless internet in the lower areas. The use of these amenities is usually at an additional charge. Higher up, away from the Everest Base Camp trek above 4000 meters, the accommodation is a little more basic. Regardless, your stay in the traditional Sherpa villages will be memorable.
