Itinerary

Day
1

Davos - Gasthaus Dürrboden

Duration: 03:40 h
Distance: 12.5 km
Ascent: 490 m
Descent: 40 m

There’s a moment on the trail when the trees fall away and the Dischma Valley stretches out in front of you — long, green, and silent. You hear the rush of the stream below and spot the first mountain farm in the distance. It’s quiet here, the kind of quiet that makes you slow down and look around. This is why you hike.

Stage 1 of the Easy Kesch Trek starts in Davos Dorf and gently guides you into the alpine world. The path begins on a mellow incline, following a wide gravel trail through woods and meadows. As you enter the Dischmatal proper, the scenery unfolds — larch trees, cascading brooks, and the occasional whistle of a marmot. The route is rated T1-T2, accessible but not boring, with subtle elevation gain as you follow the Dischmabach upstream.

Along the way, you pass Wiesenalp mountain farm and several pristine water fountains — perfect for a refill or a splash on the face. After around 12.5 kilometers and 490 meters of climbing, you’ll reach Dürrboden. Grab a drink, sit on the terrace, and soak it in. Day one done. Legs warm. Soul happy.

Gasthaus Dürrboden - Grialetsch Hütte

Duration: 02:00 h
Distance: 4.14 km
Ascent: 530 m

There’s a moment as you near Grialetschhütte where your boots are heavy, your breath steady, and then you see it — the deep blue Furgga lake, tucked beneath a glacier and ringed by silence. Just rock, sky, and you. This is what you came for.

Stage 2 of the Easy Kesch Trek begins right from Gasthaus Dürrboden and follows a steady T2 trail into the side valley. The path is rocky, sometimes steep, but always clear. You leave the tree line quickly and enter a wilder world of alpine silence and wide-open space. As you climb past 2500 meters, the views stretch back to the Scaletta Pass and forward into pure mountain drama.

After about 4 kilometers and 530 meters of ascent, you reach Grialetschhütte — a rugged stone hut with bright red shutters and front-row glacier views. Time to unlace the boots, grab a bowl of soup, and take it all in. Day two: short, sharp, unforgettable.

Grialetsch Hütte - Kesch Hütte

Duration: 05:15 h
Distance: 12.9 km
Ascent: 600 m
Descent: 530 m

The silence changes today. From the first steps out of Grialetschhütte, there's a sharper edge to the landscape — bolder rocks, thinner air, and a sense that you're walking deeper into the high Alps. The terrain feels remote, ancient, and untouched. And you're in the middle of it.

Stage 3 is the most alpine of them all. You climb steadily toward the Scaletta Pass on a T2 trail, crossing rocky slopes and scree fields. The pass sits at 2,606 meters and offers wild views in every direction. The descent into Val Funtauna is a mix of rock and grit, demanding a bit more care, but nothing too technical. This is hiking for those who like it real, with glacier views and mountain drama.

As you curve around toward Kesch Hütte, the iconic Piz Kesch begins to dominate the skyline. You’ll cross lonely streams and follow a quiet trail through wide valleys. After 12.9 kilometers and 600 meters of climbing, Kesch Hütte appears — solid, timeless, and well-earned. Time for that mountain plate and a seat with a view. Third stage, done right.

Kesch Hütte - Waalserhuus

Duration: 04:36 h
Distance: 11.3 km
Ascent: 300 m
Descent: 1050 m

The descent begins with golden morning light spilling over the ridgelines. You tighten your pack, take a last look at the mighty Piz Kesch, and step into the valley. From this point on, the Alps start to feel softer — less wild, more lived in — but still spectacular.

Stage 4 of the Easy Kesch Trek starts at Kesch Hütte and gently climbs toward the Sertig Pass. The ascent is short but punchy, on a T2 path that twists between rocks and wild streams. At the pass, you’re rewarded with a sweeping view over the Sertig Valley and the peaks beyond. From here, it’s all downhill. The trail descends steadily into a broader valley, where grass replaces scree and the air smells of pasture and pine.

As you descend nearly 1,050 meters over 11.3 kilometers, you pass waterfalls, cross wooden bridges, and follow the river all the way to Walserhuus in the Sertig Valley. Grab something cold, kick off your boots, and enjoy your last night in the mountains. You’ve earned it.

Walserhuus - Davos Frauenkirch

Duration: 02:45 h
Distance: 9.76 km
Ascent: 80 m
Descent: 440 m

After days of mountain passes, glaciers and rocky trails, this final stage feels almost like a gentle landing. The peaks retreat, the path softens, and the sound of the stream beside you becomes your steady companion. The Easy Kesch ends the way a good adventure should — with a quiet smile and dusty boots.

Stage 5 leads you out of the Sertig Valley from Walserhuus. The trail winds past wooden huts, alpine meadows and through dense forest. Now and then, you cross a little bridge or pass a viewpoint over the valley. The route is mostly T1-T2 and not technically demanding, but full of charm. You can feel it — the world is slowly returning.

After descending about 440 meters and walking just under 10 kilometers, you arrive in Davos Frauenkirch. Time for a coffee, a train ticket, or just a deep breath of satisfaction. The circle is complete. Easy Kesch, check.
