Itinerary

Day
1

Davos - Gasthaus Dürrboden

Duration: 03:40 h
Distance: 12.5 km
Ascent: 490 m
Descent: 40 m

There’s a moment on the trail when the trees fall away and the Dischma Valley stretches out in front of you — long, green, and silent. You hear the rush of the stream below and spot the first mountain farm in the distance. It’s quiet here, the kind of quiet that makes you slow down and look around. This is why you hike.

Stage 1 of the Easy Kesch Trek starts in Davos Dorf and gently guides you into the alpine world. The path begins on a mellow incline, following a wide gravel trail through woods and meadows. As you enter the Dischmatal proper, the scenery unfolds — larch trees, cascading brooks, and the occasional whistle of a marmot. The route is rated T1-T2, accessible but not boring, with subtle elevation gain as you follow the Dischmabach upstream.

Along the way, you pass Wiesenalp mountain farm and several pristine water fountains — perfect for a refill or a splash on the face. After around 12.5 kilometers and 490 meters of climbing, you’ll reach Dürrboden. Grab a drink, sit on the terrace, and soak it in. Day one done. Legs warm. Soul happy.

Kesch Hütte - Walserhuus

Duration: 04:35 h
Distance: 11.3 km
Ascent: 300 m
Descent: 1050 m

This stage features one of the most scenic sections of the itinerary: the Sertig Pass. Located above 2,700 metres, this relatively easy trek offers sweeping views of the impressive Piz Kesch and the surrounding landscape. The pass naturally connects the tranquil Val Tuors with the bustling Sertig Valley near Davos.

From the Kesch Hut, a gentle uphill slope leads to the pass, where you can enjoy a peaceful moment before beginning the long, varied descent. As you head towards the Walserhuus, the scenery constantly changes from rugged alpine slopes and wide meadows to forested hillsides. The downhill section is steep at times, but easy to follow all the way to the valley floor, and is never technically challenging. Tonight's welcoming mountain hotel is the perfect place to stay in this tranquil mountain hamlet.

From the Walserhuus, the trail gently ascends above the Sertig Valley, winding peacefully along the mountainside.
