End of Season Trek

Duration: 3 days
Trails: T2 trails
Distance: 0 - 10 km per day
Ascent per day: 500 - 1000 m ascent per day

> Close the season in style
> Near Innsbruck, easy to reach
> Sleep in a mountain hut with live music and a local band

Last light, empty trails, larches in autumn mode. The mountains are quieter, the colors deeper. Late September makes you wonder: why don’t we do this every year?

Over three days, you’ll hike the peaks just south of Innsbruck. Panoramic trails, no crowds, no rush. Walk at your own pace, solo or with others. On day two, you’ll leave your pack behind — we’re staying in the same hut.

Evenings are for slowing down. Local food, schnaps, and then: live music in the hut. No stage, just a local band playing among the hikers. Add the clink of cutlery, the scent of pine, and that soft buzz of mountain joy.

And before the big hike? A qualified mountain guide leads a workshop. Learn a thing or two — then hit the trail.

This is the first group trip made just for Bookatrekking customers. Around 30 people. Hiking together, eating together, closing the season with style. No pressure. No fuss. Just mountains, music, and good company.

Note: A minimum of 10 participants is required for this trek to go ahead.

1

Ascent to Schutzhaus Patscherkofel

Duration: 03:30 h
Distance: 7.3 km
Ascent: 930 m

You kick off your hike in Patsch, a small village just above Innsbruck. Quick ride up, boots on, off you go. Prefer to skip the climb? There’s a cable car waiting for you.

The trail winds through autumn forests and open alpine meadows. Golden larches, fire-red maples, crystal-clear air. Quiet paths, big views — classic late-season magic.

After five to six hours, you reach the hut. Pack off, boots off, schnaps on the table. And then the evening kicks in: local musicians play traditional alpine tunes and the hut fills with that laid-back, mountain kind of warmth.

Group Hike and Party

Duration: 06:00 h
Distance: 13 km
Ascent: 790 m
Descent: 790 m

Today’s hike is a light one — your big pack stays in the hut. With just your essentials, you head out on a circular route through wide alpine meadows and quiet forest paths. Long views across the valleys, Innsbruck a speck in the distance. If the weather plays along, you might catch a marmot sunning itself or chamois tracing the ridgelines.

At some point a local mountain guid gives a talk — not a lecture, more a story. About the land, the animals, the way the mountains change through the year. The pace stays low-key. September asks for it. You notice more when you slow down.

You can choose your distance: easy, medium, or a bit more ambitious. All routes loop back to the same hut — no pressure, just pick what suits your mood and legs.

Back at the hut, the mood shifts. Plates are cleared, boots come off, and tonight the common room fills with sound. A local band sets up — no stage, just instruments and energy in the space. Music mingles with mountain air, stories drift between songs. It's raw, real, and just the right kind of loud. A mountain lodge with soul.

Descent

Duration: 03:30 h
Distance: 7.7 km
Ascent: 100 m
Descent: 1030 m

This is the easiest day when it comes to hiking but maybe the hardest to leave behind. After breakfast at the hut, pack on your back, you start the descent.

You follow quiet alpine and forest roads south through the Karwendel valley. The path is gentle, the streams run alongside, and the peaks on either side still feel close. It’s a calm walk, a bit reflective — and depending on last night, maybe with a slight hangover in tow.

The route winds down gradually. Step by step, you leave the mountains behind and drop back into the valley. One last look over your shoulder, and that’s it — season closed.
