The expert version of the Český Ráj Trail is for experienced hikers who want to cover more ground in less time. In just 2 stages, you'll walk from Turnov to Mnichovo Hradiště through the middle of Bohemian Paradise. You'll see sandstone towers, narrow forest paths, panoramic viewpoints, and mysterious castle ruins — all in a short time.
You'll spend one night on the trail in the peaceful village of Libošovice, surrounded by nature. You can start your trek feeling fresh and finish it without rushing, because the trip includes extra nights in Turnov and Mnichovo Hradiště before and after your trek. A special walk through one of the Czech Republic's most beautiful areas.
Your Bohemian Paradise adventure begins as you leave Turnov and head into the lush Podtrosecká Valley. The trail winds through forest paths and sandstone towers, climbing gently to over 400 metres — the highest point of the day. Soon, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the Devil’s Hand before zigzagging down to the dramatic Čertova Ruka cliff.
A stairway through a narrow rock crevice brings you into the heart of the Bohemian rock labyrinth, with famous formations like “Adam’s Bed” and peaceful rest spots with springs and benches. The route then arrives at Hrubá Skála Castle, perched high above the forest. If time allows, explore nearby sights like the Powder Tower or Svatý Josef Chapel.
Continue downhill through the Věžové Valley and on to Jordánka Lake, a tranquil woodland spot. The rest of the stage flows through a mix of meadows and forest trails, with gentle ups and downs. The day ends in Libošovice, a quiet village nestled among low hills — the perfect place to recharge with a cold Czech beer. Well-earned rest after a full day in Český ráj.
Today's stage will take you from the village of Libošovice to the town of Mnichovo Hradiště. Starting at the Church of St Procopius, the route quickly leads you onto forested paths, taking you to the first highlight of the day: Kost Castle, which is nestled between two lakes. Take your time to explore the grounds before continuing along the southern shore of the second lake. Here, you will walk along a scenic path featuring rock formations and caves, providing a truly fairy-tale setting.
Next, you will enter a pine forest: a mostly flat, sandy trail that winds through endless pinewoods. After a short 50-metre section along a quiet paved road, follow the trail deeper into the forest. Soon, you will arrive at Komárovský Rybník, a peaceful lake near the village of Nová Ves.
Continue through the woods and climb briefly up Věžička, where you will find the romantic ruins of Valečov castle perched atop the rocks. After a well-earned break, follow the short section of road and then re-enter the rolling landscape of fields and forest corridors. The trail ends in Masaryk Square in Mnichovo Hradiště, where you can relax and reflect on your beautiful last day in Bohemian Paradise in the cafés and quiet streets.
After breakfast in Mnichovo Hradiště, it’s time to say goodbye to Bohemian Paradise. Whether you’re heading home, continuing your journey elsewhere in the Czech Republic, or returning to Turnov to close the loop — today is your departure day. Take a final stroll through the charming streets or enjoy a coffee on Masaryk Square before heading to the station or your next destination. Na shledanou!
