Itinerary

Day
1

Bergün - Kesch Hütte

Duration: 02:35 h
Distance: 4.5 km
Ascent: 780 m

Starting from the charming alpine village of Bergün, you will leave the valley behind and gradually ascend into the heart of the Grisons Mountains. The trail begins gently, winding through forests and across alpine meadows as you make your way to the secluded Kesch Hütte (2,625 m). Make sure to take breaks at the beautiful scenic spots along the way to enjoy the tranquillity of this unique area.

As you approach the hut, the landscape suddenly opens up to reveal the stunning Vadret da Porchabella glacier, nestled beneath the peaks of Piz Kesch and Piz Val Müra. Take a moment to admire it! The melting ice feeds the Ava da Saleck stream, which eventually joins the Albula River far below. From there, it's a short final stretch to the Kesch Hütte, where you can enjoy the panoramic views from the terrace at the end of a rewarding day.

Kesch Hütte - Walserhuus

Duration: 04:35 h
Distance: 11.3 km
Ascent: 300 m
Descent: 1050 m

This stage features one of the most scenic sections of the itinerary: the Sertig Pass. Located above 2,700 metres, this relatively easy trek offers sweeping views of the impressive Piz Kesch and the surrounding landscape. The pass naturally connects the tranquil Val Tuors with the bustling Sertig Valley near Davos.

From the Kesch Hut, a gentle uphill slope leads to the pass, where you can enjoy a peaceful moment before beginning the long, varied descent. As you head towards the Walserhuus, the scenery constantly changes from rugged alpine slopes and wide meadows to forested hillsides. The downhill section is steep at times, but easy to follow all the way to the valley floor, and is never technically challenging. Tonight's welcoming mountain hotel is the perfect place to stay in this tranquil mountain hamlet.

Walserhuus - Davos Frauenkirch

Duration: 03:10 h
Distance: 10 km
Ascent: 250 m
Descent: 600 m

The day begins with postcard-perfect views of Sertig-Dörfli, a picturesque Walser settlement nestled against the Piz Ducan massif. The village is renowned for its traditional alpine houses and tiny church, beloved by model railway enthusiasts worldwide.

From the Walserhuus, the trail gently ascends above the Sertig Valley, winding peacefully along the mountainside. You will enjoy breathtaking views of the valley and its meandering stream, the Sertigbach. In June, blooming alpine roses add a splash of colour. Please note that this section of the trail is shared with mountain bikers, so keep an eye out!

Midway through the hike, you will reach Äbirügg, where you will find a family-friendly barbecue area equipped with two grills, wooden logs, benches, and tables - the perfect place to stop and take in the scenery. From here, a steep, zigzagging descent will lead you down to Davos Frauenkirch, marking the end of your hike.
