Kazbegi - Gergeti Trinity Church - Gergeti Glacier - Kazbegi

Distance: 16 km

This day will be the toughest, but probably the most beautiful part of your trip to Georgia. Our destination is the Gergeti Glacier (at 3200m), which is 6 km wide and 8.92 km long. First we drive to the famous Gergeti Trinity Church, located at an altitude of 2167 m, just below the summit of Mount Kazbegi and above the small town of Stepantsminda. The church was built in the 14th century and is a must see in Georgia. After the church we hike through the mountain range and narrow gorges, over the Sabertse Pass and up to the Gergeti Glacier. The day offers a glittering mountain landscape of colliding glaciers, lush alpine meadows, roaring rivers and stunning panoramic views of the Great Caucasus Mountains.

Overnight in a guesthouse in Kazbegi (double/twin room with private bathroom).

Kazbegi - Truso Valley - Tbilisi

In the morning we travel to the Truso Valley, which is close to Kazbegi. The Truso Valley is a very different experience. A vast plain surrounded by high mountains, mineral water, travertine and a lake with geysers and abandoned houses are just some of the reasons why you should visit this valley. We will do an easy walk of about 4-6 hours.

We return to Tbilisi in the late afternoon.
