This 7-day trekking package will take you deep into the heart of Bohemian Switzerland, one of Europe's most underrated national parks. Starting in the town of Děčín, the trail follows a high route along forest ridgelines, sandstone rock formations and river valleys, ending at Jedlová Station.

Over 5 hiking stages, you will pass iconic viewpoints, hidden ravines and traditional Czech villages. You will stay in traditional local accommodation in Krásná Lípa, Jetřichovice, Mezná and Hřensko. To ensure a smooth experience, accommodation is arranged for you before and after your trek. It’s the perfect mix of nature, adventure and Central European charm. There are no crowds, just crisp air and dramatic landscapes.

Welcome to Děčín, the gateway to the Bohemian Switzerland National Park! Once you have checked into your accommodation, why not stroll along the banks of the Elbe River or visit the elegant Děčín Castle and its famous rose garden? This charming town is the perfect starting point for your hiking adventure. Make sure you get plenty of rest tonight, the adventure begins tomorrow!

Děčín - Hřensko

Begin your journey along the Bohemian Switzerland Ridge Trail in style at the impressive Děčín Castle, perched high above the Elbe River. After enjoying the views, walk through the town and soon leave the city behind as you follow peaceful forest paths that quickly ascend into the hills. Within the first few kilometres, you will enter the wooded slopes of the Labské pískovce (Elbe Sandstones), where the impressive sandstone cliffs come into view.

The first highlight is Sonnenort (Slunečná brána), a majestic sandstone arch that marks the symbolic gateway to Bohemian Switzerland. Shortly afterwards, the trail opens up to reveal panoramic vistas of the Elbe Canyon. The trail continues along forested ridges, passing scattered rock formations and mossy boulders. This area teems with wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled! The terrain is undulating but mostly gentle, offering variety and views.

The final section is a steep descent from the Belvedere viewpoint, via historic stone steps through the forest into the valley. The magical village of Hřensko, nestled at the confluence of the Elbe and Kamenice rivers, awaits at the end. This riverside town is the perfect place to rest, with its colourful houses and riverside cafés, it's the perfect place to finish the first stage of the trail.

Hřensko - Mezní Louka

Starting from the riverside, the trail quickly ascends into the hills, where you can enjoy tranquil forest walks and stunning views of the Elbe Valley. The further you climb, the more the sounds of the village fade, until you are surrounded by nature in all its glory.

After the initial ascent, the route continues along forested ridges and passes viewpoints such as the 349-metre Janovský vrch lookout tower. Next, you will find gentle undulating field trails alongside the forest, which allow you to settle into a steady rhythm as you venture deeper into the national park.

At around kilometre 8, you will reach today's highlight: Kamenice Gorge. This is a scenic path alongside the river with rising cliffs and wooden bridges in a narrow canyon. It feels like a hidden world, a magical place!

The stage ends with a final steep ascent to the peaceful village of Mezná and a few more kilometres to your accommodation in Mezní Louka. It's a tranquil setting, perfect for unwinding before tomorrow.

Mezní Louka - Jetřichovice

From the outset, you will be surrounded by spruce forests and Elbe sandstone mountains and cliffs. Climb steadily up the stone steps through enchanting woodlands to reach Větrovec Peak (449 m). Then, descend via a forested trail that opens up to reveal stunning views of the surrounding rock towers.

Next, take a walk along the undulating Schauenstein forest path, which is renowned for its mossy boulders and tranquil atmosphere. The Kleines Prebischtor and Šaunštejn Trail is a more adventurous section with many highlights, including metal ladders. It is a beautiful and varied stretch, partly exposed but never dangerous. Be sure to explore the Šaunštejn Castle ruins along the way!

Continue via the Czech Road Nature Trail, an interesting educational trail about prehistoric settlements featuring sculptures. Next is the panoramic Jubilee Trail (Jubiläumsweg in German), a ridge path with sweeping views of Rudolfstein and the distant Falkenstein Castle. This dramatic section features sandstone cliffs, forest balconies and endless views.

Take a break before beginning the descent into Jetřichovice, which welcomes visitors with its charming timber-framed houses and tranquil setting. After a full day of ridges, rock shrines and viewpoints, it's the perfect place to rest up for what lies ahead.

: Jetřichovice - Krásná Lípa

Today is the longest stage, but also the most rewarding. Departing from the timber-framed charm of Jetřichovice, you’ll ascend immediately into the sandstone highlands. Early highlights include the Na Tokání ruins and the towering Hippelwald Beech, a centuries-old tree standing guard over the forest. The trail gently weaves between dense woodland and rocky viewpoints, keeping things exciting.

After a steady climb, you will reach the Bohemian Highlands plateau, where open meadows contrast beautifully with spruce forests. Take a moment to enjoy the peace and quiet before tackling the next section, which includes Vraní vrch (449 m) at the halfway point. Take in the silence and the panoramic views over the surrounding wilderness.

Then you will find the NS Köglerova, an educational trail offering viewpoints, picnic areas, benches, stairs, fossils, unique rock formations and more. Though long, the final stretch is gentle and contemplative, passing through forests and mountain villages. The route eventually ends in Krásná Lípa, a town with cafés and breweries. The perfect place to rest and recover after such a long stage.

Krásná Lípa - Jedlová Station - Travel to Děčín

The final stage takes you from the cultural charm of Krásná Lípa to the secluded tranquillity of Jedlová Station. The route begins gently, winding through fields and forests to a lovely lake called Velký Rybník. Continue through villages and more fields in this mostly flat and easy first half. This is the calm before the climb.

From Jiřetín pod Jedlovou, a beautiful little town in the Lusatian Mountains, the path begins to rise, with forested switchbacks leading you up to Jedlová (776 m), the highest point of the week. You will find nice views, observation towers, a restaurant and outdoor seating at the top, perfect for a relaxing break. This final ascent is the most challenging of the day, but it rewards you with one of the best viewpoints on the entire trail. On clear days, you can see across both the Czech Republic and Saxony.

After a well-deserved break at the summit, you will descend through peaceful forests and climb up to the Tolštejn Castle ruins, which you are welcome to explore. Continue descending south until you reach Jedlová Railway Station, a quiet stop nestled in the woods. From here, take a train to nearby towns like Děčín. Now it's time to celebrate and start planning your next adventure!
