Krk - Brzac

Duration: 06:35 h
Distance: 23.5 km
Ascent: 520 m
Descent: 400 m

As you leave the harbour area of the historic town of Krk, turn around to enjoy one last view of the sweeping bay. The trail then leads to Lokva Rževa and its small pond, home to lilies and turtles, before continuing towards the Romanesque ruins and the Chapel of Saint Anastasia. At the junction near the Bribir ruins, turn right to visit the Kastel Salatić site. This marks the start of the day's steepest ascent, which takes you past the village of Vrh and up to the highest point (230 m).

The path then descends towards a beautiful lavender field and the Jura farmhouse of Novak Srezic, surrounded by nature. The rest of the route features a mix of rolling terrain and scenic coastal tracks. Later on, you will walk through olive groves and along a forest trail framed by stone walls and offering sea views. After passing through the village of Skrbčići, turn right at around 17.5 km to pass the Polića ruins. The path narrows by the stone wall as you near the sea.

You will soon catch your first glimpse of Plomin Luka harbour and the Bay of Uvala Vela Jana. From there, the trail climbs slightly again, offering views of the lake along a scenic route. As you turn inland towards Brzac, you can enjoy panoramic views of Linardići. Once you reach Brzac, why not treat yourself to a swim at Glavotok Beach to round off your day?

Brzac - Malinska

Duration: 05:55 h
Distance: 21.5 km
Ascent: 300 m
Descent: 420 m

Early on in the route, you will cross an idyllic meadow before walking along a scenic, stone-walled path and past ruined buildings nestled amongst the trees. Keep an eye out for the 11th-century Church of St Krševan, tucked away in the forest and still visited by pilgrims today. After passing a small car park, you will descend along a forest trail.

At around kilometer 6, turn right onto a path lined with oak trees, including the legendary Ancient Oak of Čavlena. This 400-year-old, 20-metre-tall tree is one of the oldest living things on the island and a true natural monument. A few steps further on, you will find another impressive oak beside the tranquil Krške Lokve pond. From there, take the left fork to head back towards the coast. This section offers access to several secluded, rocky beaches, perfect for swimming! Along the way, enjoy wide-open views of Cres Island.

Further along, you will reach the Fumak Cross, where you will leave the shoreline for a quicker inland route towards Porat. Here, you can visit the Church and Monastery of St Mary Magdalene, or take a swim at the local beach, before tackling the final section, which loops south in a wide U-shape — making it the easiest part of the day! You will pass an old cemetery and walk through shaded oak woods, passing places such as Sabljići and Sveti Anton. Once you reach a nice sea view, Malinska is almost within reach!

Malinska - Omišalj

Duration: 05:00 h
Distance: 18.5 km
Ascent: 220 m
Descent: 150 m

Today's stage is mostly flat and runs almost entirely alongside the sea, following the north-west coast of the island. Start your day at the Malinska marina promenade, home to the Bronze Octopus Sculpture. Continue north to pass several abandoned seaside hotels, including the ruins of the former Haludovo Hotel complex near Grota Beach.

After reaching the small lighthouse near the Ribarsko Selo marina, enter the scenic Paradise Road (Rajska Cesta). This coastal trail is dotted with benches where you can rest and enjoy the sea views. The turquoise waters of Rejska Cesta Bay are perfect for cooling off during your hike! Eventually, leave the main promenade and veer right onto a quieter path that still hugs the coast.

As you approach Rosulje, you will see more beaches and the village of Draga, home to the Fisherman Statue. Continue past the Aminess Camping Resort and some outdoor fitness stations towards the sea. After nearly 2 km, you will reach another scenic swimming cove, with the option of walking along the rugged shoreline or taking a shaded rest spot in the forest. Take the right-hand fork to pass by the ruins of the Mohorov archaeological site. After a short detour inland to bypass an industrial area, you will arrive in Omišalj. Enjoy!

Ascent: 260 m
Descent: 320 m

Today’s route once again follows the coastline. After a short zigzag path out of Omišalj, you will reach the beautiful Uvala Zagradi bay, which boasts benches, public toilets and beaches. The trail then continues alongside the sea, passing small seaside houses and the edge of the Omišalj campsite. At the path junction, bear left to walk past a car park and shaded areas near the Krk Bridge. Here, you can enjoy a great view of this impressive steel-and-concrete structure.

The trail then hugs the shoreline, passing small beaches and boats, before veering inland on a winding path. Near the first-century Chapel of Bačva, turn left (watch out for mountain bikers!) and continue along the Hamec–Rudine Trail, a scenic gravel path offering excellent views. You will now be circling the island’s airport from a distance.

After 8–10 km, you will arrive at a secluded bay near Rudine, where the coastline is dotted with ruins, caves, and stone houses. The final stretch offers views of the mainland and will eventually bring you to the harbour town of Čižići, your destination for today.

Čižići - Vrbnik

Duration: 06:00 h
Distance: 20.6 km
Ascent: 470 m
Descent: 450 m

Today’s trail takes you from the quiet coastal village of Čižići to the cliffside town of Vrbnik, known for its wine and dramatic sea views. The route begins inland through rolling countryside, passing traditional stone houses and the shaded paths of Dolova, a now-abandoned village that offers a glimpse into the island’s rural past.

As you continue, the path gradually climbs and opens up to wide views across central Krk. Expect a mix of forest trails, gravel roads, and open fields. The terrain is mostly gentle but with a steady ascent in the first half of the day. Around the halfway mark, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the eastern coastline and mainland Croatia beyond.

The final stretch winds downhill towards Vrbnik, a historic town perched dramatically on a limestone cliff. Make your way through narrow alleys and cobbled streets to reach the heart of the village. This is one of the most atmospheric finishes of the Krk Trail — and a perfect spot to sample some local Žlahtina wine.

Vrbnik - Baška

Duration: 09:00 h
Distance: 30 km
Ascent: 650 m
Descent: 690 m

Vrbnik - Baška is the queen stage of the Krk Trail — long, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. You’ll leave the town via quiet paths and begin climbing through rural backroads and pine groves. The elevation gain is steady as you cross the interior ridge of the island, approaching the highlands between Veli Vrh and Obzova, Krk’s highest peak at 569 meters.

This central section is exposed, rocky, and wild, with panoramic views on both sides of the island — the Kvarner Gulf on your left and the Adriatic coast on your right. Make sure to carry water and sun protection, as shade is limited. The descent towards Baška starts gradually before becoming more dramatic, with the trail twisting down to the southern coastline.

Your destination, Baška, is nestled at the end of a wide bay surrounded by limestone cliffs. It’s the perfect end to this tough day: think pebbled beaches, refreshing swims, and a well-earned meal. You’ve crossed the island from coast to coast — time to relax.
