The Graubünden region is famous for its enchanting winter season, but few people know about its beauty during spring and summer. From June to October, as the snow melts, breathtaking trekking trails like the Kesch Trek are revealed.

The 4-day Kesch Trek is a Swiss classic and one of the most beautiful treks in the Graubünden region. On this trek, you will cross the Flüela and Albula Passes and spend your nights in cozy mountain huts. On your final day, you will visit Lai da Palpuogna, described by locals as the most beautiful lake in Switzerland. This trip includes comfortable accommodation in Davos and Bergün before and after your trek.

Arrival in Davos

On Day 1, you will travel to Davos, the closest city to the starting point of the Kesch Trek. This vibrant alpine town is the perfect place to settle in and prepare for your adventure. You will spend the night in a comfortable hotel, allowing you to rest and acclimate before starting your trek the next day.

Davos to Grialetsch Hut

Your Kesch Trek adventure begins at the Flüela Pass (2263m), where the first stage takes you on a scenic and gradual ascent to the Grialetsch Hut (2542m). This comfortable mountain hut is reached in just over 2.5 hours, making for a gentle and enjoyable first day. If you have extra energy and time, you can take on the Flüela Schwarzhorn (3147m)—a relatively easy summit that rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks before continuing to the hut.

Kesch Hut via Plazbi to the Escha Hut

The third stage of the Kesch Trek is the most adventurous and rewarding part of the journey. From the Kesch Hut, you begin with a gentle descent to Alp digl Chant, where you can take a break and enjoy fresh homemade products like yogurt, mountain cheese, and milk—an authentic taste of alpine life. The trail then leads to a steep ascent toward the Fuorcla Pischa Pass, the highest point of the Kesch Trek at over 2,800 meters. From the top, you are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views before making a gradual descent to the Es-cha Hut, where you will spend the night in a cozy and welcoming alpine setting.

Chamanna d'Es-cha over the Albula pass to Preda/Bergün

On this final day of the Kesch Trek, a particularly beautiful highlight awaits you. Just before reaching Preda, you will pass by Lai da Palpuogna, a breathtaking alpine lake that was voted "the most beautiful spot in Switzerland" in a national survey. The lake’s crystal-clear waters shimmer in different shades of blue, creating a mesmerizing scene, especially in autumn, when the golden larch trees reflect in the water. Take your time to soak in the tranquility, enjoy the scenic surroundings, and perhaps have a leisurely break at one of the barbecue areas around the lake. Afterward, follow the gentle descent to Preda, where you can choose to spend the night or continue onward to Bergün for a relaxing conclusion to your trek.

  • Booking the huts

    We will take care of arranging accommodation on the Kesch Trek for you. We will also provide you with a detailed itinerary for every stage and instructions on how to get to the trailhead.

  • Full travel guide

    We will send you on your way with a digital travel guide that includes a route description for the Kesch Trek, interactive hiking maps, and the most important information applicable to your trek

  • Accommodation

    During your Kesch Trek, you will spend your nights in mountain huts. In the mountain huts we normally only book dormitories, but we can look into private rooms on request. If the private rooms are fully booked or not available in the hut, we automatically book a bed in dormitories for you. Please note that private rooms are more expensive and there will be an additional charge for this.

  • Half-board

    Accommodation at the huts includes dinner and breakfast. We will arrange this for you as well. This allows you to travel lighter and have one less thing to worry about. Bear in mind that lunch is not included, but it can be purchased at the huts. Here you can also buy an array of snacks and bottled water.

  • Accommodation before and after the tour

    Accommodation before and after the trek is included. Breakfast is part of your stay.

Excluded

  • Traveling to and from

    You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport.

  • Transfers

    Should you need any form of (public) transport on location, this is not part of the trekking package. This includes the use of taxi, bus, cable cars, gondolas, ferries, etc.

  • Lunch

    Half-board is included in the price of this trek. Lunch, however, is not. You can get something to eat at the mountain huts along the way.

  • Travel Insurance

    Your international travel insurance is your own responsibility. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before your trek.

  • Personal expenses

    Personal expenses on such as souvenirs, drinks, and other similar expenses are for your own account.
