Starting at the Patscherkofel near Innsbruck, you'll hike from one friendly hut to the next: Glungezerhütte, Meißner Haus, and Schutzhaus Patscherkofel. Each day covers gentle distances, perfect for little legs and grown-ups alike. And every evening ends in a cozy hut with hearty meals and mountain tales. We’ll handle the bookings—you just come ready to hike, laugh, and make memories together.

Your journey begins in the charming village of Igls, just south of Innsbruck. From there, hop on the Patscherkofelbahn cable car, an adventure in itself, gliding over forests and alpine pastures. From the mountain station, the hike gently winds through fragrant pine forests and flower-filled meadows with sweeping views of the Inn Valley below. Keep your eyes open for edelweiss and playful marmots along the way. The day ends at the panoramic Glungezerhütte, famous for its friendly atmosphere, homemade strudel, and breathtaking sunsets.

Today’s route leads you downhill along gentle alpine trails towards the peaceful Voldertal Valley. This path is rich in nature: alpine roses, chamois on the slopes, and birdsong overhead. The Meißner Haus, nestled in a quiet clearing, is one of Tyrol’s oldest huts—offering hearty mountain meals and the soft hum of nature all around.

Meissner Haus - Schutzhaus Patscherkofel

The trail gently climbs back towards the heights, winding through old pine forests and alpine meadows where butterflies dance and marmots peek curiously from the grass. Step by step, you return to the Schutzhaus Patscherkofel, where warm Tyrolean dishes and mountain views await. And if little legs are getting tired, the Patscherkofelbahn cable car is right there—offering a relaxed and easy ride down for anyone who prefers to glide instead of hike.

Schutzhaus Patscherkofel - Talstation

Your final day offers a choice: hike gently down through forests filled with birdsong, or hop on the Patscherkofelbahn for one last effortless glide back to Igls. Along the trail, you’ll pass ancient larch trees and can look back one more time at the mountains you’ve crossed together. However you descend, the Patscherkofel will leave you with stories to tell and memories to last a lifetime.

  • Accommodation

    During your Patscherkofel Trek, you will spend your nights in mountain huts. In the mountain huts we normally only book dormitories, but we can look into private rooms on request. If the private rooms are fully booked or not available in the hut, we automatically book a bed in dormitories for you. Please note that private rooms are more expensive and there will be an additional charge for this.

  • Half board (where possible)

    Accommodation in the huts includes dinner and breakfast, unless otherwise indicated in the exclusive list. This allows you to travel lighter and not have to worry about an extra meal. Please note, however, that lunch is not included, but can be purchased at the huts.

  • Breakfast in hotels (where possible)

    Accommodation in the hotels includes breakfast whenever possible. We will arrange this for you as much as possible in advance. Please note that lunch and dinner are not included, but can be ordered at the accommodation or in the village.

  • Navigation support

    Our trekking app also includes built-in navigation support. With GPS-based maps and offline access, you can follow the trail confidently and stay on route even without mobile signal.

Excluded

  • Traveling to and from

    You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport.

  • Transfers

    Should you need any form of (public) transport on location, this is not part of the trekking package. This includes the use of taxi, bus, cable cars, gondolas, ferries, etc.

  • Lunch

    Half-board is included in the price of this trek. Lunch, however, is not. You can get something to eat at the mountain huts along the way.

  • Travel Insurance

    Your international travel insurance is your own responsibility. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before your trek.

  • Personal expenses

    Personal expenses on such as souvenirs, drinks, and other similar expenses are for your own account.
