This 4-day trek offers an ideal alternative for those who want to experience the beauty of the Hochkönig when the classic route is fully booked. Your journey starts and ends with comfortable overnight stays in Werfen, making your adventure smooth and stress-free. Between those stays, you’ll cover about 48 kilometers and climb around 2,300 altimeters, hiking through impressive alpine scenery and enjoying cozy mountain huts along the way.
Stage 3 is the highlight of the trek, taking you up to Schneebergkreuz at 1,900 meters, where unforgettable views await. Each day ends in authentic alpine comfort: at the welcoming mountain hotel Arthurhaus, the cozy Mittereggalm, and a charming local hotel in Mülbach. Imagine waking up to golden sunrises over the peaks and savoring traditional regional dishes each evening — the perfect ingredients for an unforgettable hiking adventure.
We will take care of arranging accommodation on the Salzburger Almenweg for you. We will also provide you with a detailed itinerary for every stage and instructions on how to get to the trailhead.
You’ll receive access to our trekking app, which serves as your complete digital travel guide for the Salzburger Almenweg. Inside, you’ll find everything you need for your trek: route descriptions, hiking maps, navigation support, payment information, and all the key details specific to your journey.
We arrange your accommodation on the Salzburger Almenweg in hotels, hostels or huts along the way. We have selected accommodations on our trek based on the length of each stage and recommendations from hikers who have gone before us on the Salzburger Almenweg.
Every morning breakfast is waiting for you. We will arrange this for you as well. This allows you to travel lighter and have one less thing to worry about. Bear in mind that lunch and dinner are not included, but it can be purchased in the huts.
Accommodation before and after the trek is included. Breakfast is (if possible) part of your stay.
Where the other accommodations solely include breakfast, at the Mittereggalm we arrange your stay based on half board. Meaning that you are able to enjoy both breakfast and dinner in the hut.
Our trekking app also includes built-in navigation support. With GPS-based maps and offline access, you can follow the trail confidently and stay on route even without mobile signal.
You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport.
Should you need any form of (public) transport on location, this is not part of the trekking package. This includes the use of taxi, bus, cable cars, gondolas, ferries, etc.
Your international travel insurance is your own responsibility. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before your trek.
Personal expenses on such as souvenirs, drinks, and other similar expenses are for your own account.
Breakfast is included in the price of the trek. You can get lunch at the hotels, restaurants on the way or in your accommodation at the end of stage.
