Day
1

Klausen – Latzfons – Klausner Hütte

Duration: 02:30 h
Distance: 6.48 km
Ascent: 660 m
Descent: 30 m
Your Sarntal adventure begins in the town of Klausen, where you take a short 25-minute bus ride to the village of Latzfons, the starting point of your trek. From Latzfons, the trail leads steadily uphill, away from the last rooftops and into the peaceful heart of the Sarntal Alps. It’s not a technical route, but it rewards hikers who take their time. With every turn, the valley opens up, the views widen, and the mountains begin to feel close. After a few hours of gentle but steady ascent, you’ll reach the Klausner Hütte, quietly nestled on the edge of the forest. The hut is simple and welcoming—a wooden bench, a plate of warm food, and if the sky is clear, a ceiling of stars to end your first day.

Today is slower, more reflective. The trail climbs gently, winding its way toward one of South Tyrol’s most peaceful spots: Latzfonser Kreuz. This is a place of quiet energy—high up, open, and sacred to many. The refuge nearby is small, and that’s the beauty of it. You eat together, share stories with strangers, and watch the sky shift into evening. A moment to breathe. A place to remember.
