If you’re looking for an adventure in the Italian Dolomites, the Alta Via del Camoscio is for you. While the popular Alta Vias 1 and 2 become busier every season, Bookatrekking.com offers this alternative for those looking to explore the Dolomites in a more personal way. The Alta Via del Camoscio is a 4-day hut-to-hut trek that begins and ends in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Covering about 30 kilometers, the route offers a mix of valley walks, rugged ascents, and exposed sections.
While the trek is more challenging than some, it is doable for anyone with a sense of adventure and a reasonable level of fitness. With proper preparation and a steady pace, you’ll enjoy the thrill of crossing high-altitude passes with views of peaks like Cristallo and Sorapiss. This trek is about embracing the challenge and savoring the experience, with overnight stays in Rifugios where you can relax and recharge. The Alta Via del Camoscio offers a chance to escape the crowds and immerse yourself in the stunning beauty of the Dolomites—whether you're a seasoned hiker or simply eager to take on a new adventure.
Starting from the Guargnè Cable Car in Cortina d'Ampezzo, this trek to Rifugio Son Forca combines scenic views and historical interest. The journey begins with a ride on the cable car, ascending to the mid-station. From there, you will follow a trail that meanders through alpine meadows and larch forests, providing views of the Ampezzo Valley.
As you progress, the path gently ascends, leading you to the Forcella Zumeles pass. This vantage point offers great vistas of the surrounding Dolomite peaks, including Monte Cristallo. Continuing along the trail, you'll encounter remnants of World War I fortifications, a reminder of the area's historical significance. The final stretch involves a moderate climb to Rifugio Son Forca, situated at 2,235 meters. Here, you can rest and enjoy traditional alpine cuisine while soaking in the scenery.

Please note that private rooms are more expensive and there will be an additional charge for this.
Accommodation in the huts includes dinner and breakfast, unless otherwise indicated in the exclusive list. This allows you to travel lighter and not have to worry about an extra meal. Please note, however, that lunch is not included, but can be purchased at the huts.
You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport.
Should you need any form of (public) transport on location, this is not part of the trekking package. This includes the use of taxi, bus, cable cars, gondolas etc.
Half-board is included in the price of this trek. Lunch, however, is not. You can get something to eat at the mountain huts along the way.
