The Cinque Terre Highlights Experience is a five-day journey showcasing the best of Italy’s renowned Ligurian coast. Starting in Monterosso al Mare, this hike follows scenic trails overlooking the Ligurian Sea, winding through terraced vineyards and into charming villages with colorful houses perched on cliffs. From the coastal beauty of Vernazza to the medieval charm of Portovenere, each day reveals new landscapes, views, and cultural treasures.

This route includes moderate to challenging sections with steep climbs and descents that reward you with spectacular views. At the end of each day, unwind in the heart of the Cinque Terre villages, surrounded by vibrant colors, authentic flavors, and the warm hospitality of Liguria. This is a journey that captures the essence of Cinque Terre: natural beauty combined with the unique culture of Italy’s coastal villages.

Arrival in Monterosso al Mare

Arrive in Monterosso al Mare, the largest of the Cinque Terre villages. Take some time to explore the medieval town center with its historic churches and scenic beach. Monterosso is the perfect starting point for your hiking adventure, with a mix of vibrant colors, seaside charm, and inviting trattorias. Relax with a glass of local wine and get ready to begin your journey along the Cinque Terre trails.

Monterosso al Mare – Corniglia

Start your hike from Monterosso along the scenic Sentiero Azzurro (Blue Trail), which hugs the coast and offers breathtaking views of the sea. The first leg takes you to Vernazza, one of Cinque Terre’s most iconic villages, with its colorful houses surrounding a small harbor. After a break, continue to Corniglia, the only village not directly on the sea, perched high above the cliffs among vineyards. Corniglia offers a peaceful, authentic atmosphere and sweeping sea views—a charming spot to end the day.

Corniglia – Riomaggiore

Today’s route begins in Corniglia with a descent to the coast before winding through terraced vineyards and olive groves. The path leads to Manarola, one of Cinque Terre’s most picturesque villages, where pastel-colored houses rise dramatically above the rocks. Take some time to explore the harbor and village center before continuing on a higher route to Riomaggiore. This quieter path offers sweeping views of the villages and coastline, with Mediterranean vegetation along the way. Riomaggiore, with its narrow alleys and lively harbor, is the perfect place to end the day. Unwind by the water and enjoy the view of the colorful houses cascading down the cliffs.

    We will arrange your accommodation on the Cinque Terre in hotels, inns, and guesthouses. Accommodation will be private in single, double or twin rooms and with en-suite bathroom where possible.

  • Baggage Transfer

    This trek includes the transfer of your luggage throughout the entire Cinque Terre trek. Your bags will be picked up every morning from the hotel lobby and will be driven to your next next accommodation. Baggage transfers allow you to travel lighter during the day and enjoy the walk in a more relaxed manner.

  • Breakfast

    Breakfast is, if possible, included in this trek and it will be provided every morning at your accommodation.

  • Traveling to and from

    You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport. This also applies to any transport from the end point of your trail.

  • Transfers

    Should you need any form of (public) transport on location, this is not part of the trekking package. This includes the use of taxi, bus, cable cars, gondolas etc.

  • Travel Insurance

    Your international travel insurance is your own responsibility. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before your trek.

  • Lunch and Dinner

    Breakfast is, if possible, included in the price of the trek. You can get lunch and dinner at the shops, hotels, and restaurants along the way.
