To hike or to snack? In the Bregenzerwald that doesn't have to be a choice. This week-long hike takes you through rolling alpine meadows, dense forests, and charming villages. Along the way you can feast on the tastiest local cheeses, game specialties, and freshly baked bread. And yes, that of course includes a good glass of Schnaps or a local beer. Put on those hiking boots and get ready for an adventure that tastes like more!

The Bregenzerwald is located in western Austria and is known for its spectacular nature as well as gastronomic delights. This region is not only a paradise for hikers, but also for lovers of cheese and traditional food. On this hike, you will step from village to village, with new delicacies waiting for you every day. And as if that were not enough, your adventure is framed by breathtaking views of the Alps.

Starting from Bezau, this scenic hike takes you through rolling meadows and gentle hills to Andelsbuch. Along the way, stop at a Sennerei (cheese dairy) to taste regional specialties like Bergkäse and Alpkäse. Andelsbuch is known for its dedication to traditional craftsmanship and offers a beautiful introduction to the Bregenzerwald’s rich cheese culture. Spend the night in a cozy guesthouse, where the warmth of local hospitality welcomes you.

Today’s route leads through lush forests and wide meadows toward Schwarzenberg. Take a lunch break at a mountain inn, where you can savor hearty dishes like Käsespätzle and local game. Schwarzenberg itself is famous for its well-preserved traditional wooden architecture and art. A stroll through the village will reveal beautifully painted houses and an old parish church with frescoes by the famous painter Angelika Kauffmann. Enjoy a relaxing evening here, sampling regional wines or a local beer.

We will arrange your accommodation on the Bregenzerwald Experience in hotels, inns, and guesthouses. Accommodation will be private in single, double or twin rooms and with en-suite bathroom where possible.
Full travel guide

We will send you on your way with a digital travel guide which includes a route description, interactive Bregenzerwald Experience hiking maps, and the most important information applicable to your trek.
Baggage Transfer

This trek includes the transfer of your luggage throughout the entire Bregenzerwald Experience trek. Your bags will be picked up every morning from the hotel lobby and will be driven to your next next accommodation. Baggage transfers allow you to travel lighter during the day and enjoy the walk in a more relaxed manner.

Breakfast is, if possible, included in this trek and it will be provided every morning at your accommodation.

Traveling to and from

You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport. This also applies to any transport from the end point of your trail.
Transfers

Should you need any form of (public) transport on location, this is not part of the trekking package. This includes the use of taxi, bus, cable cars, gondolas etc.

Your international travel insurance is your own responsibility. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before your trek.
