Lasörling Höhenweg - Short Version

Duration: 5 days
Trails: T2 trails
Distance: 0 - 10 km per day
Ascent per day: 500 - 1000 m ascent per day

> Relatively short distances
> Suitable for families
> Great option for a first hut-to-hut tour

Welcome to the Lasörling Höhenweg. Do you have not that much hiking experience, but want to make it just a little more challenging? Then the 5-day Lasörling Höhenweg is a great way to enjoy the Austrian Alps perhaps together with your children. Enjoy beautiful views of the Venedigergruppe and Großglocknergruppe and stay in Austria's most hospitable mountain huts. The distances between the mountain huts are relatively short but can be extended with short day hikes from your accommodation.

Please Note! The distances are relatively short, but it is still a hike in the mountains on a so-called 'Höhenweg'. It definitely won't be a 'walk in the park' and you will also pass some more technical sections. The trek is around 50 kilometres long and has a total ascent and descent of 3,100 meters. During this 5-day trek, you will hike between 4 and 7 hours per day. Will you join us?

Clarahütte - Neue Reichenbergerhütte

Duration: 05:00 h
Distance: 10.1 km
Ascent: 740 m

On the second day of Lasörling Höhenweg, we follow the path back a bit until we can cross the mountain river Isel to continue into the Dabertal. In June, there is a good chance of encountering occasional snow remnants. Halfway through, we enter the Höhe Tauern National Park where we reach the Neue Reichensberghütte via a relatively flat path, which is located on the Bödensee glacial lake.

Neue Reichenbergerhütte - Bergerseehütte

Duration: 06:05 h
Distance: 10.5 km
Ascent: 620 m
Descent: 1010 m
Have a good breakfast today, because a tough hike is on the programme. We start the day with a climb to the Göslewand that towers far above the rest. From here we continue our path to the Rote Lenke, some 25 minutes from the Göslewand. This is the transition from the Bödensee to Kleinbachboden. The Rote Lenke gets its name from the reddish-eyed stone deposits at the transition. From here it is only downhill towards the Michtalscharte where we have a great view of the Venedigergruppe. Another short stretch and we reach the sleeping place for tonight: the Bergerseehütte with beautiful views of the mountain lake.

Bergerseehütte to Zupalseehütte

Duration: 05:45 h
Distance: 11.8 km

Today is a beautiful day on the programme to the Zupalseehütte. The first part of this section of the Lasörling Höhenweg runs steeply uphill and immediately takes you over 500 altitude metres. After this, you go to the Lasörling hut which is a lovely place to have lunch and enjoy the view. From here, the trail heads east to where it gently starts to elevate. From the highest point, you have a panoramic view up to the Zupalseehütte.

Zupalseehütte - Virgen

Duration: 04:10 h
Distance: 9.3 km
Ascent: 110 m
Descent: 1240 m
The last day's programme includes another substantial descent. No longer following the Lasörling Höhenweg, we directly hike into the valley in Virgen. The path starts with a not-too-easy descent along the Zupal Bach. Near the mountain lake, we pick up the path to the valley. As you descend, you get further and further below the tree line so you are soon hiking in the forest, which was not the case in recent days due to the altitude. Just before Virgen, you cross the Isel once more as on the first day and your hiking adventure comes to an end here.
