The summit is now open! Join Herman Trekker in this 4-day trek to Mount Rinjani’s summit. Spend your first night in Senaru and the following 3 days trekking in this wonderful mountain. From Sembalun to the Crater Rim, then to the summit, and finally to the Lake and Hot springs. Pick up – Senaru Village

For your convenience and security, when you arrive to Lombok Island we will pick you up from the airport, harbours and tourist attractions such as in mataram, senggigi, kuta and others. We will then take you to our office in senaru village so you can register and we can take care of other matters such as payment, directions and your preparation for the trek on the next day. We will then drive you to your hotel room in Senaru which we will arrange for you.

You can visit and enjoy the view of popular and amazing “Sindang Gile ” and “Tiu Kelep ” waterfalls if you arrive in Senaru Village at noon.

Senaru village - Sembalun village - Crater rim sembalun

The expedition to Rinjani National Park will commence early with a 6 am wake-up followed by breakfast at 6:30 am. After a quick pack-up, a mountain car will transport you to Sembalun Village, a 45-minute journey. Upon arrival around 8 am, we'll check in at the Rinjani National Park Office for tickets before setting out on our trek. The day's journey will cover roughly 8-9 hours, with stops at various POS (shelters) for breaks and meals. The stops include Pos 1 for a short break, Pos 2 for a 2-hour lunch and rest, and brief halts at Pos 3 and Pos 4. Each pause offers a unique view of Rinjani's landscapes, with refreshments and snacks provided. The day culminates with a challenging climb, leading us to the scenic Sembalun crater rim by 5:30 pm. Here, as the sun sets, tents will be set up for the night, followed by a hearty dinner. As darkness envelops the landscape, trekkers can unwind and rejuvenate, gearing up for the next day's early summit trek.

Waking up at 2:00 am, a light breakfast of hot bread with jam, chocolate, and hot beverages will be prepared to fuel your summit climb. The journey to the top typically takes 3-4 hours, varying with your pace, and involves three stages: a moderate initial climb, followed by a relatively easier but longer trek, and finally, the challenging "letter E" stage marked by steep inclines and slippery terrain. Reaching the summit rewards you with a magnificent sunrise view, offering sights of Lombok Island, Agung Mountain in Bali, and Tambora Mountain in Sumbawa.

After basking in the sunrise and capturing memories, you'll descend back to the campsite for a well-deserved breakfast and rest. Later, a 3-hour trek will take you to a lake and hot springs where you can indulge in a relaxing swim and explore the pilgrimage springs, while lunch is being prepared. The post-lunch journey, lasting another 3 hours, leads to Senaru crater rim, presenting yet another mesmerizing view, particularly of Agung Mountain in Bali and the smoky expanse of a new volcano. The day ends with a delightful dinner beneath the vast starry sky.

Crater rim Senaru - Senaru village

We will wake you up at 6 o’clock in the morning to enjoy the sunrise from the peak of rinjani mountain. Then, your guide and porter will serve breakfast: hot tea, coffee or hot milk. After breakfast we begin our descent back to senaru village. Trekking time: about 5-6 hours (including breaks and lunch on the way). The Senaru Trek route has some pos /shelters you will walk through, like pos 4,pos 3,pos 2,pos 1. When we arrive at senaru village, a car will be waiting for you to drop you off to your next Destinations.

In those cases, you can usually request breakfast for the next morning directly at the accommodation (at your own expense), or simply enjoy one of the cafés in the area.

  • Traveling to and from

    You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport. This also applies to any transport from the end point of your trail.

  • Transfers

    If you require any form of public or local transport during the trek, it is not included in the package unless stated otherwise. This applies to taxis, buses, cable cars, gondolas, and similar services.

  • Travel Insurance

    Your international travel insurance is your own responsibility. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before your trek.

  • Lunch and Dinner

    Breakfast is, if possible, included in the price of the trek. You can get lunch and dinner at the shops, hotels, and restaurants along the way.
