Are you looking for a challenge and already have experience hiking in the mountains? In particular, Stage 18 (day 1) and Stage 21 (day 4) will put your fitness to the test. The average days are between 5 and 7 hours of hiking. Along the way you will stay in cozy mountain huts along the way. Mountain peaks, lakes, waterfalls and well-marked routes make a hike in the Salzburger Sportwelt a guaranteed success!
Get ready for the toughest day of this trip. After the Waldgasthof, you will trek down through an enclosed high forest to the forest trail that will take you to Flachau. From Flachau, the road goes along the highway until you reach the "Neuer Sattelweg" and then continues uphill through the forest. The last stretch leads over the access road to the Berggasthof Sattelbauer. From there, a nice hiking path leads through the forest to the Lackenalm, and about 800 m before the alpine meadow it joins a goods path.
From here it is up to the Lackenkogel junction, where you have earned a small rest after overcoming 1,050 meters of elevation gain. From here you will cross the mountain pass between Ache and Tageweideck, before descending to today's stop, the Gamskogelhütte. Overnight in a hotel in the neighboring village of Zauchensee. You can save about 5 kilometers by taking the cable car from Bergstation Roskopf.
This is an easy stage with a long descent, if you take the gondola from Zauchensee back up to the Gamskogelhütte. Tip: Have some food here, breakfast or brunch. From the Gamskogelhütte follows a short ascent to the Stubhöhe and a long descent to the Vordergnadenalm. This is the end point of your hike through the Salzburg Sports World! Congratulations!
We will send you on your way with a digital travel guide that includes a route description for the Salzburger Almenweg, interactive hiking maps, and the most important information applicable to your trek
During your Salzburger Almenweg, you will spend your nights in mountain huts. In the mountain huts we normally only book dormitories, but we can look into private rooms on request. If the private rooms are fully booked or not available in the hut, we automatically book a bed in dormitories for you. Please note that private rooms are more expensive and there will be an additional charge for this.
Accommodation before and after the trek is included. Breakfast is part of your stay.
Accommodation in the huts includes dinner and breakfast, unless otherwise indicated in the exclusive list. This allows you to travel lighter and not have to worry about an extra meal. Please note, however, that lunch is not included, but can be purchased at the huts.
You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport.
Should you need any form of (public) transport on location, this is not part of the trekking package. This includes the use of taxi, bus, cable cars, gondolas, ferries, etc.
Half-board is included in the price of this trek. Lunch, however, is not. You can get something to eat at the mountain huts along the way.
Your international travel insurance is your own responsibility. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before your trek.
Personal expenses on such as souvenirs, drinks, and other similar expenses are for your own account.
Where possible, we book accommodations on a half-board basis but at the Kleinarl Hütte only breakfast is included. In the evening you can dine à la carte at the hut without any problems and pay for it in cash on the spot. So make sure you take enough cash with you on trek.
In Zauchensee we book you an apartment with its own kitchen. Make your own meal or eat out in one of the surrounding hotels, as breakfast and dinner are not included. Please note that Zauchensee does not have a supermarket so should you wish to cook for yourself, you will need to bring the supplies from Flachau, for example.
