The Tour des Muverans is a wonderful circular hike in Valais, with many different options for walking. The trail is officially 54 km, with 4300m of ascent and descent and 23 hours of walking. The tour runs mainly above 2000m, with an altitude of over 2600m and a lowest point of 1230m. During our 7-day Tour des Muverans, you hike around the mountain peak Grand Muveran, which rises above 3000m and lies on the border between Vaud (Waadt) and Valais (Valais) in Switzerland. We book all your accommodations along the trails and your before and after accommodation

Today you must make your way to Bex, where we will have booked a hotel room for you. You can spend the afternoon discovering this welcoming small town before you start your Tour des Muverans.

Les Plans sur Bex - Refuge du lac de Derborence

On the first hike day of your Tour des Muverans, a long stage awaits. You'll first take the bus to Les Plans-sur-Bex, where your hike begins. After a good breakfast, you can continue along the edge of the Grand Muveran towards the Col des Essets. From here, it is a short stretch to Refuge du lac de Giacomini where you can possibly enjoy a nice lunch after mostly completing your stage. After this, it's another 3 hours before you arrive at your overnight accommodation for the day, which is beautifully located by the famous Lac de Derborence.

Refuge du lac de Derborence - Cabane Rambert

Duration: 06:30 h

Descent: 150 m
Stage 2 involves a lot of ascent and with Lac de Derborence in the background, you continue on to your next accommodation. Almost halfway through your trek, you'll pass Gîte de la Chaux de Dorbon which is known for its amazing cuisine, ideal for a break. From here, you continue walking towards your next highlights, Lac de La Forcla and Col de La Forcla, where you can enjoy peace and quiet. Your last overnight stay at Cabane Rambert at an altitude of 2582 m will ensure that you can enjoy one more night in the mountains.

Included

  • Booking the huts

    We will take care of arranging accommodation on the Tour des Muverans for you. We will also provide you with a detailed itinerary for every stage and instructions on how to get to the trailhead.

  • Full travel guide

    We will send you on your way with a digital travel guide that includes a route description for the Tour des Muverans, interactive hiking maps, and the most important information applicable to your trek

  • Accommodation

    During your Tour des Muverans, you will spend your nights in mountain huts. In the mountain huts we normally only book dormitories, but we can look into private rooms on request. If the private rooms are fully booked or not available in the hut, we automatically book a bed in dormitories for you. Please note that private rooms are more expensive and there will be an additional charge for this.

  • Half-board

    Accommodation at the huts includes dinner and breakfast. We will arrange this for you as well. This allows you to travel lighter and have one less thing to worry about. Bear in mind that lunch is not included, but it can be purchased at the huts. Here you can also buy an array of snacks and bottled water.

  • Accommodation before and after the tour

    Accommodation before and after the trek is included. Breakfast is part of your stay.

  • Traveling to and from

    You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport.

  • Transfers

    Should you need any form of (public) transport on location, this is not part of the trekking package. This includes the use of taxi, bus, cable cars, gondolas etc.

  • Lunch

    Half-board is included in the price of this trek. Lunch, however, is not. You can get something to eat at the mountain huts along the way.

  • Travel Insurance

    Your international travel insurance is your own responsibility. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before your trek.

  • Personal expenses

    Personal expenses on such as souvenirs, drinks, and other similar expenses are for your own account.
