Stellisee Loop with Matterhorn Views

Begin your hiking adventure with a loop around the beautiful Stellisee, one of Zermatt’s most picturesque alpine lakes. The trail leads you through meadows and past grazing sheep, offering uninterrupted views of the Matterhorn. This moderate hike is perfect for easing into the week while enjoying some of the best scenery the Swiss Alps have to offer.

Riffelberg to Gornergrat

Duration: 04:30 h
Distance: 11.2 km
Ascent: 800 m
Descent: 800 m
Start your hike at Riffelberg and follow the trail past the stunning Riffelsee, where the Matterhorn is reflected in the lake’s surface. Continue climbing to the Gornergrat, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of over 20 peaks above 4000 meters, including the Monte Rosa massif. Enjoy a meal at the restaurant on top before descending along the scenic Gornergrat railway route back to Riffelberg.
