If you are planning on conquering this beast of a mountain, you must know that there are 2 different routes that take you to the top. Although they are similar in terms of acclimatization, weather and terrain, there ir a significant difference: infrastructure. The Southern route offers its trekkers accommodation in mountain huts and cable cars to carry equipment. The Northern route is not as comfortable: during the trek you will spend your nights in camping sites.
Of course, choosing the tougher route has its advantages as well: it will be less crowded and there will be less human intrusion onto the landscape. No matter which route you choose, climbing Mount Elbrus is an exciting challenge for any trekker!
