This 6-days trekking in Racha is one of the most picturesque trekking tours in Georgia Caucasus. Racha is often called as Switzerland of Caucasus - snow-capped peaks, huge glaciers, hidden valleys, green alpine meadows and majestic views over the Great Caucasus Mountains are main gems of Racha region. We overnight at guesthouses for some days, while doing camping in tents in the wild, unspoiled nature for the next days.
6-day trekking in Racha covers different trekking trails. The first day we travel to Racha region, taste its unique wines, and reach Shovi resort. For the second day, we start trekking. This day we trek to Buba glacier. It is a good preparation trail for Udziro lake. For the third day, we start the most difficult part of our trekking adventure – Udziro lake. The trek starts in Shovi, a famous resort in Racha region which used to be one of the most touristic areas in the past. Nowadays, most foreign tourists do not go to this region which keeps it in its most unspoiled and unexplored conditions. From Shovi we hike up to the mountains, pass the forest and follow the mountainous small rivers and alpine meadows and reach the lake. In good weather, you even can see the peaks of Svaneti (Shkhara, Tetnuldi, and Ushba) from the lake. For the next day, we descend to Glola village and overnight there. For the next days, we trek from Glola village to Chiora village through Notsara Valley.
If you want to experience less touristic places, most spectacular views, unexplored nature, great food and wilderness of the mountains, this trek is for you.
