From the moment you leave Riezlern, you’re in it—steep trails, epic views, and terrain that keeps things interesting. You’ll hike over passes, through flower-filled meadows, and across the dramatic Gottesacker plateau.

The scenery is high alpine, the trails are spiced with just enough challenge, and the huts are everything you want at the end of a long day. Each night ends at a different hut: Fiderepasshütte with its sunset ridge, Widdersteinhütte below the peak, and Schwarzwasserhütte tucked beneath the Hoher Ifen. Built for the fit, the sure-footed, and those craving a proper alpine escape.

Riezlern - Fiderepass Hütte

Duration: 02:30 h
Distance: 5 km
Ascent: 440 m
Descent: 310 m

From the top station of the Kanzelwandbahn (Gipfelstation Kanzelwand), the trail begins with sweeping views across the Kleinwalsertal. You follow a scenic ridge trail past the Walser and Oberstdorfer Hammerspitze, both towering over 2,200 meters.

The path is well-marked but narrow and rocky in places — proper hiking shoes and sure-footedness are essential. As you descend, the views shift toward the Allgäu Alps, and the trail winds through patches of alpine meadow and dwarf pine.

After a series of gentle switchbacks, you reach the tranquil mountain saddle of the Fiderepass, where the Fiderepasshütte awaits with cold drinks and warm food. Time for a well-earned break with a view.

The final day of the trek begins in Baad and quickly climbs toward the Walmendingerhorn. The trail winds up through forested slopes and alpine pastures, with sweeping views over the Kleinwalsertal behind you.

Once at the Walmendingerhorn ridge, the path follows a panoramic balcony trail high above the valley. It’s a scenic finale, with gentler terrain leading you past the Heuberg and through the forested ridges of the Kürenwald.
