The full Mullerthal Trail is 112 kilometers long, and consists of three different routes, that all can be combined. This makes the Mullerthal Trail suitable for a weekend, a long weekend, or even a week!

Mullerthal Trail Route 2 is 38 kilometers long, which will take you about 15 hours in total. This route is, just like Route 1, starting in Echternach and is dominated by rock formations. This trek is considerably more challenging than Route 1, due to the climbing and height differences. You don't have to worry about the logistics of booking accommodation along the route, as we will arrange this for you. The only thing you then have to do is to enjoy this beautiful landscape.

Echternach to Mullerthal

Duration: 06:11 h
Distance: 22.4 km
Ascent: 380 m
Descent: 330 m
Today, the walk starts at the bus station of Echternach, in the direction of Berdorf (rue Maximilien). After a short climb, you arrive at Trooskneppchen. Here you have a fantastic view of the city of Echternach and the Willibrord Basilica. The path continues through woods and rocky landscapes to the Wollefsschlucht - a steep gorge where wolves used to hide. Via the Aesbaach, a small river, the trail continues past Perekop, a large rock that can be climbed with ladders, to Huel Lee (pronounced Hohlay). Here you will find round cut shapes, as millstones used to be broken out of these hollows for the region. The trail continues to the amphitheater, which is still used for various purposes these days. The path continues through the village of Berdorf, which is known for its Berdorfer cheese. The path continues through the Schnellert nature reserve to the village of Müllerthal, where you will spend the night.

3

Mullerthal to Echternach

Duration: 03:45 h
Distance: 13.1 km
Ascent: 230 m
Descent: 280 m
Today, the trail leads you along the Black Ernz to the Schéissendëmpel, a small but very picturesque waterfall, which, with its wooden bridge, is a well-known image of the region. Next, you will pass some fascinating rock formations, namely those of Eilebuerg, Godfralee, and Goldkaul. After this, you will automatically walk through the village of Consdorf. The path then leads you through the forest and rocky landscape to one of the most spectacular rock crevices in the region, Kuelscheier. The path leads through this narrow and dark crevice, so it is not a bad idea to bring a torch. You can also walk around the rock. After this, you pass the village of Scheidgen and walk back to Echternach.
