> Hike through Berchtesgaden National Park and around the Watzmann peaks
> Enjoy panoramic views during a ferry ride on the Königssee
> A tour with varying degrees of difficulty and challenges
> Accommodation before and after the trek is included
South Germany has a rich history and here the Alps are also part of it. 2.5 hours from Munich and right below the Austrian city of Salzburg, you'll find the Berchtesgaden National Park, right next to the town of the same name. Here you overlook the impressive mountain range, the Watzmann. Officially, at 2,962 meters, the Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany, but because it lies right on the border with Austria, some look to the Watzmann as the highest mountain because it does lie entirely in Germany.
In addition to a rich history, this mountain range also has a rich variety of challenges and types of hiking trails. One day you hike leisurely along the Wimbach stream, through the Wimbach Valley and the next day you climb via cables on the Falzsteig towards the Watzmannhaus. The variety results in stages that offer something new every day so you never get bored. During your final stage, you'll even use a local ferry to make your way back to Königssee.
In short, this tour offers you an unforgettable hiking experience through Germany's only Alpine National Park. With varying degrees of difficulty, you'll walk around one of the country's most famous, as well as most beautiful, mountain range. If you have experience in the mountains and want to get away from it all, walk around the Watzmann in a week.
We will take care of arranging accommodation on the Watzmann Tour for you. We will also provide you with a detailed itinerary for every stage and instructions on how to get to the trailhead.
We will send you on your way with a digital travel guide that includes a route description for the Watzmann Tour, interactive hiking maps, and the most important information applicable to your trek
During your Watzmann Tour, you will spend your nights in mountain huts. In the mountain huts we normally only book dormitories, but we can look into private rooms on request. Please note that private rooms are more expensive and there will be an additional charge for this.
Every morning breakfast is waiting for you. We will arrange this for you as well. This allows you to travel lighter and have one less thing to worry about. Bear in mind that lunch and dinner are not included, but it can be purchased in the huts.
You have to make your own way to the starting point. The total amount does not include personal transport.
Should you need any form of (public) transport on location, this is not part of the trekking package. This includes the use of taxi, bus, cable cars, gondolas etc.
Your international travel insurance is your own responsibility. Discuss your itinerary with the insurance company before your trek.
Personal expenses on such as souvenirs, drinks, and other similar expenses are for your own account.
Breakfast is included in the price of the trek. You can get lunch at the hotels, restaurants on the way or in your accommodation at the end of stage.
