Route
What’s the plan?
Day 1: Your Hotel – Sembalun Village – Pergasingan
Our driver will pick you up at your hotel by 12:00 at noon (After lunch), and will drive to Sembalun Village. This will be a 3-hour drive trough the north coast. When you arrive at Sembalun Village, you will meet the guide and porter, and will have a trekking briefing. We will start the trek by 3 pm. You need extra energy for the first hour of trekking. The first half of the trek is quite steep. Take it slow while enjoying the beautiful rice-fields at the bottom of the valley and the Great Rinjani Mountain at the West. The 2nd half is not too hard as the 1st half. The nice view will distract you.
After 2 – 2,5 Hours trekking, you will arrive at the base camp. The porter will prepare your tent and dinner while you enjoy the sunset just beside Mountain Rinjani, with a hot coffee and tea in your hand. Dinner will be served after sunset. Then you will have time to rest/free time (Milky way photo shoot is perfect from here on a clear night).
Day 2: Pergasingan – Sembalun Village – Your Hotel
The next morning, by 5:30 am, the guide will wake you up and you willget ready to walk to the east side of the hill for the sunrise. The sunrise point is just about 30 minutes walk from the base camp. From there you can see the beautiful sunrise with beautiful views of Gili Lampu & Gili Sulat at the shore of East Lombok. You will also see the other hill at the opposite valley and the east site of Sembalun Valley rice-field. A Panoramic Photo is perfect to be taken from here. After the sunrise, we will go back to the base camp for breakfast. Take some more photos and then we leave the base camp back to Sembalun by 9:30 am.
After 1.5 hours downhill, you will meet the driver, who will bring you back to your next destination in Lombok.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Best season
The best months for a trekking on Lombok are from April to December. In fact, officially you can only book your trekking for these months. This has everything to do with the fact that Mount Rinjani National Park is closed in the rainy season, which lasts from January to March. Although there are providers who nevertheless have access, we recommend avoiding the mountain in the rainy season.
Training
Do you make it to your destinations as planned? Often this depends on the unpredictable weather in the mountains. However, it can also depend on your own physical condition.
Mount Rinjani is principally for everyone, but some physical condition can make trekking lot easier and more enjoyable. One sure way to get fit for trekking and hiking in Indonesia is to, you could have guessed it: hike more. Do you like walking, have you done trekking at an altitude before and do you sport twice a week on average? With a little extra training, you’ll soon be ready for this beautiful trekking in Lombok Island.
Another good idea is to walk a lot of stairs. This will especially help for the first day, when you conquer 1500 meters of elevation. Make sure you are well prepared. This is important for your safety, but also for that of your team. Make sure you start six months in advance with an hour’s hike twice a week.
Where is the Pergasingan Hill?
The Pergasingan hill is located on a hill north of the Sembalun Village. It is 1,700 meter high, and usually some visitors use this place for training before they climb Rinjani Mountain. It is also popular for extreme sports such as paragliding and mountain biking.
Tipping
It is normal to tip porters, guides and chefs. Opinions on how many are divided. We recommend reserving an amount of IDR 200K for porters. A guide will often get a little more and will expect about IDR 300K. Converted this is an amount of approximately USD 20. Be generous. It will be appreciated.
Permits
The treks always include entrance to Mount Rinjani National Park. This means that permits are also inclusive. The fee for permits consists of 13% for the National Park, 62% for the Rinjani Ecotourism Program and 25% for the maintenance of the trails.
