This is a 2-day tour to the Crater RIM Senaru, at Rinjani Mountain National Park. This trekking tour is suitable for beginners and experience trekkers alike. During this trek you will visit the Crater RIM Senaru & the Tropical Forest. From crater Rim Senaru, you will be able to see the lake and the summit of Mount Rinjani, but you will not visit them. From the crater RIM you can also enjoy a wonderful sunset and the views of Agung mountain at Bali islands and Gili Islands.
With this package, we will pick you up in the morning (around 4 am, depending on you hotel location). This means that you have to be in Lombok at least the day before the trek. On request we can also pick you up at Gili island ( on the same day) or in Bali Island (the day before the trek) at an additional cost.
*This trek is available from April 1st to December 31st due to climatic reasons.
Our driver will pick you up at your hotel lobby between 04:00-04:30 AM and will take you directly to Senaru. You will then check in at our office, have breakfast, and meet the guide and crew for the Trekking Briefing. We will then take you to the Gate of Rinjani National Park (about 1km from the hotel). At the Rinjani National Park Registration Office in Sembalun Lawang (1,156 m) your guide will arrange the National Park entry tickets and then the trekking will begin.
The first hours of the trek are a steep climb through thick tropical forests rich in flora, bird life and a variety of butterflies. You might see orchids and, if you are lucky, the rare black ebony leaf monkey, known locally as Lutung. Rest stops are taken along the way. Under normal conditions, lunch will be served at Post II.
Depending on your physical condition and weather conditions, the night camp will be set either in the forest at post 3 Mondokon Lolak (2,000m) after about five hours climbing from senaru, or continue the ascend for another couple of hours through grassy meadows up to Plawangan 1 Senaru crater rim at 2,641m. From the crater rim you will enjoy sweeping views of the lake Segara Anak (2,00m) and the summit of Mt. Rinjani. Within the crater, Mt. Baru Jari is an active volcano and an island within the lake. It last erupted dramatically in 1994, followed by small eruptions on 2004, 2015 and 2016. On a clear evening, the Gili Islands, Bali and Mt. Agung can be seen to the west. The crew will set up all necessary gear here (tent, sleeping bag, mattress, pillow and toilet tent) and prepare your dinner.
This trek includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
During your trek, you will stay in tents. The crew will take care of setting up all camping equipment.
During your trek, you will at all times be accompanied by an English speaking guide.
The cost of permits to enter the national park during your trek is included in the price.
Porters will be there to assist with carrying all camping and other necessary equipment during your trek.
Enough drinking water will be provided during the trip.
Sleeping bags and liners are provided.
At the begining of the trek you will be picked up at Lombok airport, at any harbour such as Lembar Harbour, Teluk Kodek Harbour, Senggigi Harbour, or at any main turistic attraction (Mataram, Senggigi, Kuta Lombok, 3 Gilis) and we will drive you in a private car to your hotel in senaru village. The next day we will drive you to the trek’s starting point. Once you finish the trek, we will drive you back to your hotel or next destination on Lombok.
