Gafadura Hütte - Hotel Restaurant Kulm

Duration: 06:41 h
Distance: 15.1 km
Ascent: 740 m
Descent: 1290 m

A strong mountain stage with plenty to keep you looking up: green pastures around Alp Gafadura, the rocky Saroja Pass and the sharp towers of the Drei Schwestern. The trail mixes open views with rougher alpine sections, giving a real sense of moving through the wild side of Liechtenstein.

After Saroja Pass, the trail climbs into rugged limestone terrain toward Wolan and the Drei Schwestern area. You pass a rock window, the ascent to the Drei Schwestern and steep sections with climbing elements. Around Kuegrat, the highest peak of the Drei Schwestern group at 2,123 metres, the route feels properly alpine, with Garsellikopf and Gafleispitz close by.

The descent is long and varied, passing the Fürstensteig Trail, rocky mountain paths and viewpoints above the Rhine Valley. After Gaflei, the route becomes calmer and leads down through forest, meadows and the Walser surroundings of Triesenberg. Hotel Restaurant Kulm is in the village centre, a comfortable finish with wide valley views.

Hotel Restaurant Kulm - Pfälzerhütte

Duration: 05:15 h
Distance: 13.9 km
Ascent: 1280 m
Descent: 60 m

This stage builds slowly from the Walser village of Triesenberg into open alpine country. The route moves past village lanes, forest edges and quiet meadows before the mountains start to feel bigger around Steg and the Valüna Valley. Along the way, there are views over Triesenberg, the Rhine Valley, Steg Reservoir and the surrounding high ridges.

After leaving Triesenberg, the trail passes local highlights such as the Stromhäusle Tower, Walser Legends Trail sections and viewpoints above the village. It then continues toward Steg, with views of the reservoir and the clear Gänglesee area nearby. The climb becomes more noticeable after Steg, following the Rappenstein-Sücka area into quieter mountain terrain.

Higher up, the route passes Alp Älpele and the Valüna-Waldboden Hut before entering the Naaf Valley. The final climb leads through wide alpine pastures, with views toward the Swiss Alps and nearby peaks such as Hochspeler at 2,226 metres and Plasteikopf at 2,345 metres. Pfälzerhütte sits high on the ridge, a classic mountain-hut finish in proper alpine surroundings.
