Bill Tilman, the famous British mountaineer described the Langtang Valley as one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. Years later, little has changed. Langtang is the most beautiful valley in the world. The sparsely populated area north of Kathmandu is home to fantastic trails that see far fewer hikers than, for example, Annapurna and Everest Base Camp. This makes trekking through the Langtang a soothing experience amidst beautiful nature and traditional settlements.
The valley is supposed to have been discovered when a person was looking for his lost yak (Nepalese cow). It was therefore given the name Langtang, Lang means “yak” in the Tibetan language and tang means”follow”. Makes sense.
With its picturesque landscapes, temperate climate, easy trails and traditional lifestyles, the Langtang Valley is one of the gems of Nepal. The area was declared a National Park in 1976. This made the first national park in the Himalayas a fact. Compare our offer and book at Bookatrekking.com!
