Mediterranean DNA
Zulema grew up among the vineyards of Ribera del Duero in northern Spain. It happens to be the region where the world’s most famous pilgrimage runs through, the Camino de Santiago. Coincidence she is now working for Bookatrekking.com? We’d like to think it’s not! The Mediterranean landscape and culture is ingrained in her DNA and some of her favorite hiking destinations are Mallorca, Corsica and Greece. The best hike Zulema has done so far? “I have studied in the mountain towns of Annecy in the French Alps and Trento in the Dolomites. The local hikes there are mind-blowing! Especially the Dolomites are truly amazing.” What she loves doing most outside spending time in the mountains? “When I’m back home in Spain, I love doing all sorts of DIY jobs with my parents. Crafting, working with my hands is very satisfying.”
A World to Explore
Zulema started working with Bookatrekking.com in June 2023. It was a deep dive, working on the huge and important task of coordinating the move to the new web platform. As a native Spanish speaker she is now involved in Spanish translations and she is the Trekking Expert for South America. What’s still high on the bucket list for Zulema? “I’d like to explore the raw wilderness of Patagonia. Then again, my bucket list is pretty big and there are so many places to discover!” A final top tip? “Don't underestimate the path nor yourself, you need to be prepared to adapt to any situation.”
