Finally, you can make your dreams come true and set off to the Everest Region in Nepal to do some proper trekking in the Himalayas. What a great opportunity to go to Everest Base Camp and beyond. Yes, it is, but you just found out that most treks in the Everest Region take at least 12 days and you don’t have that much time. Does that ruin all your plans? Must you wait for a moment that you can have more leave? No. Fortunately, there are some short treks in the Mount Everest Region. In this blog post, we share our favorites with you.

Our trekking experts often speak to adventurers who want to try and squeeze a 12-day Everest Base Camp Trek or the Annapurna Circuit into a tight schedule. If you want to be on the safe side, you need to plan a day before and a day after the trek. Our trekking partners can do a lot of things but they cannot control the weather. Mother Nature can have unpredictable mood swings in the mountains and that can have an effect on your flights from Kathmandu to Lukla and back. Why would you push yourself when you are trekking in the Everest Region? Isn’t the whole point of trekking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life? Unwind and make the most of your time in Nepal. Choose a shorter trek and relax in one of the most beautiful and most famous parts of the Himalayas. You can do one of the following shorter Everest Region treks if you don’t have more than 10 days available.

Everest View Trek

Ultimately you come to the Everest Region for trekking and the best views. The Everest View Trek delivers exactly that. As the name suggests this trek is all about the best panoramas, vistas, and views. A typical Everest View Trek is between 5 and 9 days long and includes some of the highlights that you would find on longer Everest treks. You will get to spend time at Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa settlement that is the gateway to the rest of the Khumbu region. You can’t get to Namche Bazaar without an exciting flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Some people choose one of the shorter itineraries to experience just that. Tenzing-Hillary Airport, named after the pioneers who first ascended Mount Everest, is rated the most dangerous airport in the world. Adrenaline guaranteed. On the Everest View Trek, you get to see all the giants the region is famous for. Tick Tawache, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Mount Everest off your list.

Gokyo Valley Trek

Ideally, you should spend more time in the Gokyo Valley but you can do it in 10 days. The Gokyo Valley Trek is an attractive option that will allow you to see more of the Khumbu region. The lakes in the Gokyo Valley are oligotrophic. Oligothrophic is your new favorite Scrabble word; it means that a lake has a low algal product and you can see that because of the clear waters. A typical Gokyo Valley Trek takes you from Lukla to Namche where you get to spend a day for acclimatization. This will help you to prevent altitude sickness for the rest of the trek. After Namche, you will trek via Dole and Macchermo to Gokyo. This is the most interesting part of the Gokyo Valley Trek. Crossing the famous Cho-La Pass is a massive drawcard to choose this direction in the Everest Region.
