For more than two millennia nomadic families have been roaming the lands of the Orkhon Valley in Mongolia. UNESCO added the valley and its culture to the World Heritage List in 2004. For centuries the Orkhon Valley was seen as the seat of the imperial power of the steppes.
The Orkhon Valley consists of 121,67 ha of land divided by the Orkhon Rivers and there are numerous structures dating back to the 6th century. The Orkhon Valley is also home to Kharkhorum, the 13th and 14th century capital of Genghis Khan’s Mongolian Empire.
